Power washing in Qualicum Beach often means working on surfaces that are decades old. Cedar siding from the original building, stone walkways laid by hand a generation ago, paver patios that have settled over time, heritage stucco that needs a gentle hand. None of these like to be blasted at full commercial pressure. They need a more careful approach — and that's how we work in Qualicum Beach.

Heritage cedar siding

Western red cedar siding is common on older Qualicum Beach homes, and it's beautiful when it's maintained — but it weathers, gets streaky, develops mossy patches in the shaded sections. Power washing cedar restores the look, but it has to be done carefully: too much pressure strips the wood, lifts the grain, and makes the next stain or oil application uneven. We use lower pressure on cedar, work in passes that follow the grain, and step back when we see the wood reaching the right tone.

Stone walkways and paver patios

Stone and paver work is something Qualicum Beach has more of than most central Island towns. Many homes have hand-laid stone paths, paver patios with intricate joint patterns, or large flagstone areas. Power washing brings these surfaces back to life — stripping years of moss from the joints, lifting the dirt that's collected in the texture of the stone, restoring the original colour. The trick is getting the moss out of the joints without blasting the joint sand out, and re-sanding where needed.

Composite and engineered materials

Newer additions to many Qualicum Beach properties — sun-rooms, expanded patios, composite decking — bring different power washing requirements than the original heritage surfaces. We adjust pressure for each material and don't apply one approach across an entire property. The 1965 cedar deck and the 2015 composite deck right next to it get completely different pressure settings.

Heritage stucco, handled gently

Some older Qualicum Beach homes feature traditional stucco siding that has aged into a mottled, character-rich appearance. We don't aggressively power wash heritage stucco — too much pressure can damage the surface and lift the texture in ways that don't repair well. Gentle, careful washing removes surface grime and algae without disturbing the underlying material.

What we wash

Coordinating with the property's character

Power washing on a Qualicum Beach heritage property is rarely a stand-alone service — it's part of a larger seasonal maintenance plan that might include hedge trimming, garden bed work, and lawn care all happening in coordination. We schedule power washing to align with the rest of the property care, so the property looks consistently well-kept from the curb to the back fence.
